Julian Callos is a highly talented L.A illustrator. Born in the Philippines, with a beautiful drawing style, a great sense of humour and an eye for a 'story'. One of my favourite works by this talented guy is Night of The Living Drunks. His style conjures up another time, on the surface something more innocent, like Disney, like the '50s but with an Asian finesse. But when you scrape the surface, almost like a David Lynch movie, the white picket fenced dream begins to fall apart and something darker is revealed. At times, perhaps in a state of deeper reflection, he almost enters the world of psychedelia, particularly in his 'More Questions Than Ever', 'Into the Unknown', and 'Inner Space' series. Organic, melting, bleeding colour that harks back to something like a still from a Japanese version of Fantasia if the film was melting in the projector.
This is one of those times when the artist has something to offer almost everyone, from light and almost kitsch pieces, to something moodier and more twisted. Here are a few examples to explain what I'm waffling on about:
Callos offers a few giclée prints via Inprnt (starting at $20 each), and has begun creating a few 3D pieces too. You can see all his work at his photoblog, his blog and his site at www.juliancallos.com.

Awesome stuffs! And you put it correctly with that “something darker is revealed”. Such as that “No Man is an Island”, which I think looks like sad and grim.
Too true mate!
