London-based British artist Claire Scully has been making something of a stir in the contemporary arts scene over here, and who knows, the world maybe her oyster before you know it. I first noticed her work when I came across her painting of a pigeon, something described by many Londoners as a "flying rat", I have to admit, even if they do crap everywhere, I still have a soft spot for them. Anyone from London who moves to the South Coast soon realises how relatively untroublesome they are, compared to dreaded seagulls. Sheesh, the size of them down here, and the noise they start making by 4am, pigeons are a breeze in comparison. Her style is pretty diverse too, everything from street art style paintings to flamboyantly illustrated Japanese screens, installations, typography, photo-montage, it's there at her site TheQuietRevolution.co.uk.
I've been keeping an eye on her work ever since and am really impressed with her mosaic-style illustrations of animals in her Bejewelled series.

I also recently noticed her latest portrait of a real cockney bruiser… I hope I haven't just insulted her bf lol.

I'm not normally a fan of nature drawings, being a city boy at heart, but these did stand out for me.

Claire has already got a few exhibitions and commissions under her belt, something I myself need to work on (sometime lol), see more at The Quiet Revolution.
