Okay I’ve just completed my third commissioned t-shirt design for Antiphrase.fr. This piece is simply called "Hell". Here’s the thinking behind it:-
"There have been many great philosophers in our collective history, some spiritual, some logical, others existential; and a fair number of them have considered the idea that this life we live, this place, the planet earth, is in fact ‘hell’. Wars, famine, poverty, you name it, we the human race experience it in biblical proportions. Who knows, they may just be correct. In addition, if the Buddhists are on the right track we might have to endure the same ordeal over and over again. Will we ever learn?"
So there was a little debate over the design, essentially Antiphrase wanted to make it more ‘obvious’ to their customers exactly what this piece was about and so I made a few changes to the design to spell it out plain and simple. The first image is the proposed t-shirt design, the second is the original illustration (which along with Body Electric I will most likely offer as limited edition screen prints in the future via my blog).
I’ll let you all know when the 3 t-shirt designs are available from Antiphrase – should be around September.
