Are You Up For Upfest?

Yes I’m giving you plenty of warning here (not), it’s an all-dayer in South Bristol – 12 hours chock-a-block with 150 urban artists doing their thang live all day from 12pm to 12am – if I could hitch a lift (and back) I’d be there myself but money’s getting real tight these days and have to save every penny to complete the set-up for my print studio (excuses, excuses). Hey actually it’s not, even paper costs a fortune these days, well decent A1 paper anyway.

Okay back to the subject, Upfest.co.uk isn’t exactly spilling the beans when it comes to details but what I do know is that Bristol is just about as close as the UK gets to a Mecca for graffiti art – if you want to see what’s happening on the street, that city’s probably your best bet. It’s funny I just Twittered that I used to live down that way, Redland to be precise. I even worked for a religious cult there for a while trying to bring in the rent, it was all going well until they promoted me from piece working on their crap New Age crystal junk to stock control and then it all went tits up. I can’t handle mathematical projections, especially when everyone I asked for help wanted to talk about the ‘Living Master of Love and Life’ who also happened to be the company Director for One World Creations (can’t find them online I guess they went bust). He was an idiot, he didn’t have a clue about stock control either, still you have to hand it to guys like that, Anthony Robbins and the rest, I mean I’ve always sucked at sales and marketing and these guys managed to sell metaphysical B.S till the cows come home. Believe in yourself, believe in me, give me your money, you will feel better for it.

Sorry… right Upfest  – their site doesn’t seem to say much but their May update offers a comprehensive list of artists that will be there not accounting for last minute changes:-

I’ve linked up a few guys from The Wonderland Collective – if you’ve no idea who they are check out my article at Open Magazine. Anyway sorry if I missed you out :/ Anyway they so owe me one seeing as I’ve propped them a few times now lol.

I’m guessing there’s just about everyone you’ve ever heard of coming to Upfest bar a few giants of the scene – I do know they’re pulling out all the stops on the entertainment side too – check out these flyers…
