Brangelina by Paul Baines

'Brangelina‘ (44" x 60") limited edition print by Paul Baines. Celebrity evolution has reached a new zenith, the matriarchy have a new role model, man is at last objectified. Behold the new Salome, the decapitator of the feminised male icon, the spirit maybe willing but the flesh is weak.

Angelina Jolie offers Hollywood a sacrifice, a commodity of idealised love, and now favoured her status climbs ever higher. The projection which is Brangelina, her own new conjoined identity, her succubus, her swaddling children, her menagerie delineate the reality of existence and all its truths in favour of modern mythology. Still unwoven, fraying as quickly as it is spun, the legend of the hero gives way to the coronation of the illusory at the bequest of the corporate body.

Their is no future for makind, this is the end of history, from now on we must follow the reign of the emancipated woman and neutered male, the media plays its part in the exercise of the endless recounting of a herstory of the moment, without the propietory of tomes told, no past or future perspective will lay claim on this moment.

The Age of Brangelina.

Brangelina by Paul Baines ‘Brangelina’ is available as print or printed canvas. Colour digital painting. Dimensions: 44″ x 55″.

hi! i saw that we both commented on bobby mookini’s blog. i’m a fan of pop art, and i really like this one in particular. i found it a neat touch that you put angelina in a scanty white dress just like the screaming female victims of the old king kong movies, except in your version, (br)angelina IS the monster of destruction.

    too cool.

    cheers,

I love how Angelina is a monster here! Totally understand your point. The close-up’s reveal alot of detail, which i havent seen lately. The detail and the concept make this very interesting.

Woooow! This was the first reaction after seeing this picture!

At first I didn’t like it much, but after a thought for about 5 seconds, I really started to like it and fell in love with it. The monster of Angelina actually brings out so many moods, I feel that’s the amazing beauty of this pic!

This is great… and why does the expression on Brad’s face seem to be that of mild concern? He seems rather peaceful to have a disembodied head.
